2020: Looking Back And Moving Forward To 2021.

Hello my dear family and friends. We have made it to the end of 2020 and I just want to say GOOD RIDDANCE TO THIS F$&@ING HORRIBLE YEAR!!!!!Sorry for the language, but can you blame me? This year has just mostly been a roller coaster of fear, uncertainty, and sadness. I have seen not only the pandemic, but this whole election year has torn families and friends apart. I am so tired of seeing the world being torn apart by hate and fear. Despite everything that has happened this year, I still try to see the light at the end of the tunnel and hope everything will go back to at least some form of normalcy. I think we all know things will never be the same again, but we can still make the most of it by bouncing back. Don’t let the fear of this pandemic and other forms of negativity control your life. Be strong and kind. As long as you have people who care about you and believe in you and you believe in yourself, there is no telling what possibilities you might get. Lets all welcome 2021 with open arms and hope for a better future. I don’t see 2021 being a perfect year since I am sure there will still be many hardships to overcome. But I believe some good will come out of 2021 as well. So be strong, be kind, be healthy, and overall hope for the best. Cheers to a better year everyone!!!!!

Reid and Jamie Wedding

I attended a particular wedding this past weekend and I just need to talk about it. Weddings truly are events in life that are magical, beautiful, and of course unforgettable. This one is no exception and I am of course talking about the marriage and wedding day of Reid Garlock and Jamie Catton.

Before we talk about the wedding day itself, I wanna have a talk about the two lovebirds who are now happily married. The groom Reid Garlock is one of my best friends and has been ever since the days of elementary school. Reid is one of the coolest guys you will ever have the pleasure of knowing. He is one who lives life to the fullest and makes sure everyone is having a good time. Then we have the bride Jamie Catton or as of right now, Jamie Garlock. Jamie is one of those girls where you meet her, you immediately want to be friends with her for how kind she is and how down to earth she is as well. Reid and Jamie met each other while they were attending Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. They started off as friends, but as time went on, their relationship and bond continued to grow bigger and stronger. What is truly unique about both Reid and Jamie is they have this energy around them that brings out the best in the people they have met over the years. They always want to party and put their hearts and souls into making sure all their friends and family are having an amazing life and having fun. It was only a matter of time before those two lovebirds would profess their love towards each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together. Now onto the wedding.

The wedding day first seemed a bit dark when a thunderstorm came upon downtown Indianapolis on that Saturday morning. But luckily, the storm died down and the sun came out just at the right time. After everyone got dressed, the entire wedding party was driven around to take pictures around downtown Indy. We took pictures on South Washington Street and on the Cultural Trail near Mass Ave and College Ave. We had pictures taken that were of course beautiful and timeless along with some funny ones as well. We had a lot of fun and we enjoyed every single second of it.

Reid and Jamie got married at St John’s Catholic Church near Capitol Ave and Georgia Street. St John’s is the oldest church in Indianapolis, Indiana and it was built around the time of the Civil War. Despite it being the oldest church, St. John is also one of the most beautiful churches in Indy as well. There are lots of religious art decorated all throughout the church, including the huge large side windows which show the story of the Crucifixion Of Jesus Christ. It is breathtaking for those who are a part of the church and for visitors as well.

It was an honor to be a part of Reid and Jamie’s wedding party and it was quite big. On the groom’s side, we had the groom himself Reid Garlock, along with the siblings in the wedding including Pat Garlock a.k.a Project Pat, Reid’s big brother and best man, and Will Catton, who is Jamie’s big brother. The rest of the groomsmen includes Reid’s longtime friends including Matt Andress, Zach Barrett, Trip Mcfall a.k.a. Mcfeazy, Matt Davis, Daniel Delgado, Jack Altice, Matt Sanner, Tyler Ramsland, Kyle Tosh, Sam Miles, and the Head Usher which was myself, John Banks Gurney.

On the bride’s side, we had the bride Jamie Catton and her bridesmaids and longtime friends Kelly Noll, Ellie Clark, Emily Moran, Emily Knotts, Emily Catton Kuech, Katherine Spataro, and Mary Brody. The parents who gave away Reid and Jamie at their wedding were Carolyn and David Garlock, parents of Reid and Pat and Deb and Steve Catton, parents of Will and Jamie. The wedding was huge with almost 400 people and I was shocked how massive it was. But hey it’s Reid and Jamie and anyone who meets them is automatically attached to these two whether they are friends, family, or strangers. After the deacon blessed Reid and Jamie as Mr. and Mrs. Garlock, there were rounds of applause, cheers, and tears. I will admit I even shed a few tears myself.

After the wedding, you think everyone went home right?! WRONG!!!!! With Reid and Jamie, the party is not over until they say it is over. We had a trolley pick us up and it took us all the way over to Indiana Roof Ballroom for the reception. We of course took more pictures before heading inside to enjoy some cocktails and appetizers. After that, everyone planned of how they were going to make their grand entrances in the dining area. The entire entrances were very creative and funny as well. I want to describe it myself, but you have to see the wedding video to see it for yourself, which I look forward to watching. All I can say the entrances involved a sports theme and insanity. The food at the reception was amazing with salad, chicken and beef with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and of course the beautiful vanilla wedding cake. Now since everyone knows Reid and Jamie love to get late night bites to eat, they had cheesy bites and garlic cheeseburgers. The speeches from Mr. Catton, Project Pat, and Kelly Noll were funny, touching, and spoken from the heart. And when the band came on, everyone danced like there was no tomorrow. I haven’t danced that hard since my big Brother Ben’s wedding. After the reception, we had an after-after party at Ike and Jonesy’s to chat and drink. Like I said, it isn’t over until reid and Jamie say it’s over.

The only negative I have about Reid and Jamie’s wedding is I didn’t want it to end. All of us were having too much fun and we were all hoping it would continue to go on and on. Oh well people can dream can’t they?

Overall, Reid and Jamie’s Wedding was the party of the century and it will be a day no one will ever forget and talk about it for many years to come. I hope everyone had an awesome and fun time including you Reid and Jamie. Stay humble and classy you lovebirds and enjoy your honeymoon. Love you both and thank you for making me head usher. I promise to have special roles for you two when I have my wedding someday. Peace out.
